Life often takes us down unexpected paths. I am Lauren Souther, a wife, mother, part-time nurse, and, now, a financial coach. My journey into finance began with my own struggles and a strong desire to help others. If you've ever felt lost in your financial situation, know you’re not alone.
My Early Experiences
I have always been passionate about caring for people. Being a nurse is incredibly fulfilling, but my journey took an unexpected turn. I discovered that serving others could extend beyond healthcare into financial coaching. I realized that many people need help with financial literacy and empowerment.
After years of navigating life's hurdles, husband and I found ourselves facing significant financial stress after the birth of our daughter. Many can relate to the feeling of being overwhelmed by bills and uncertainties. Seeking help during this tough time was a game changer for us. My husband and I sought help from a financial coach that transformed not just our lives but finances.
During our coaching sessions, we learned about budgeting, smart saving, and the importance of setting realistic financial goals. In fact, studies show that individuals who follow a structured financial coaching program increase their savings by up to 30%. This inspired me to change my own financial story.
Discovering my Calling
With renewed clarity, I joined the Dave Ramsey Preferred Coaching Program. This initiative equipped me with valuable tools and insights to help myself and others achieve financial freedom. The principles I absorbed became my guiding light, allowing me to tackle financial issues directly.
For instance, I learned to implement the "snowball method" for debt repayment, where you focus on paying off your smallest debts first to gain momentum. Many people who adopt this method report feeling more motivated to continue their journey out of debt.
It was no longer about merely surviving; it was about thriving and empowering others to do the same. This experience ignited a passion within me, compelling me to become a financial coach.
The Name Behind Good Remedy Financial
You might wonder about the name Good Remedy Financial. It’s more than just a catchy title; it carries deep significance. It comes from the novena called Our Lady of Good Remedy.
In the late 12th century, St. John of Matha founded the Trinitarians to rescue Christians sold into slavery at alarming rates. Their fundraising efforts, inspired by Mary, resulted in the liberation of thousands. The group honored her with the title of 'Our Lady of Good Remedy,' symbolizing hope in times of financial hardship.
Similarly, my choice of name reflects my dedication to providing financial support and hope to my clients. It also ties in my medical background as a nurse and finding a "good remedy" for your financial woes.

The Mission of Good Remedy Financial
At Good Remedy Financial, my mission is clear: I want to offer the same hope and empowerment that once transformed my life. Financial freedom is attainable and should be viewed as a goal rather than a distant dream.
I follow the core teachings of Dave Ramsey, focusing on budgeting, saving, and living within our means. Together with my clients, I create actionable plans tailored to their situations. For example, I guide clients to create a monthly budget to track their spending, a practice shown to improve financial stability.
Building Relationships
One of the most fulfilling aspects of being a financial coach is the personal connections I build with clients. I take time to understand each client’s background, struggles, and aspirations.
This individualized approach matters. Each person's financial journey is unique, and I genuinely empathize because I have faced similar challenges. My goal is to foster trust and transparency as we work together on their financial journey.
Overcoming Obstacles
Every journey faces its share of obstacles. As a coach, I experience setbacks with my clients. But I strongly believe that obstacles present opportunities for growth.
By sharing my financial story, I encourage clients to confront challenges like debt and budgeting directly. My support is unwavering, whether it’s creating a debt repayment plan or preparing for unexpected expenses.
The Importance of Community
A supportive community is vital for anyone striving for financial freedom. Sharing experiences and learning together can create a powerful network of encouragement.
In my own life, I have seen the positive impact of community support. I urge clients to build their own networks, involving friends and family as they navigate their financial journeys. When we unite, we can achieve great things together.
Final Thoughts
My journey from financial struggle to becoming a financial coach has been transformative. I am proud to guide others seeking financial freedom through my coaching services. The principles I learned from my own coach, inspired by Our Lady of Good Remedy, form the foundation of Good Remedy Financial.
If you're facing financial challenges, remember you don't have to navigate this alone. Together, we can create a plan to secure a brighter financial future. Let’s write a new chapter in your story, one where financial stability is within reach.
